Anemone Reef is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most stunning dive sites in the whole of Thailand. and a jewel within the Phuket Dive Sites. The closet point to the surface of this site is submerged only 6m/18ft from the surface.
There is a buoy line attached making descent and ascent much more easy to control for the less experienced divers
Anemone Reef is so called, as many of these wonderfully coloured creatures have made this reef their home. Pinks, purples, greens and blue anemones can be seen swaying with the movement of the tide. This spectacular garden of colour will leave you in awe and makes for a truly enriching dive.
When there is a small surging current, it causes the Anemones to wave in the water like sunflowers do in a field in the summer time. The whole reef looks like it is actually moving.
Anemone Reef holds a special place in many divers’ hearts, and no one more than me lovbes this place, as it is the first place I saw a Leopard Shark – it was sleeping on the bottom.
It is possible to catch site of these graceful predators here on Anemone Reef . The site is not too far from the King Cruiser and Shark Point dive sites, and many companies incorporate them into a one day dive trip, usually included also is Koh Doc Mai.
Marine life here: apart from the sighting of Leopard Sharks, it also possible to see; Bearded Scorpion Fish, Jacks -including Mackerel, Tuna and Trevallies all love to hunt around here.
Great Barracuda can be seen lurking just off the reef, as well as their smaller cousin the Yellow Tailed Barracuda, Octopus, Spiny Lobster, a variety of Nudibranch and Morays.
Also it is another great place for the camera guy, as there are Pipefish and seahorses living here too, as well as Peacock mantis Shrimps.
