Subacqueo e tartaruga<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

West of Eden \u00e8 un sito di immersione emozionante anche perch\u00e9 solo fino a pochi anni fa qui nessuno si immergeva. Il motivo \u00e8 che proprio dietro l’angolo si trova il suo fratello maggiore: Est of Eden \u00e8 il sito pi\u00f9 meraviglioso delle Isole Similan.<\/p>\n

In effetti l’Est of Eden “era” il luogo di immersione pi\u00f9 bello di tutte le Isole Similan, ma a causa dei danni subiti nel 2004 a causa dello tsunami e per lo sbiancamento del corallo ha rischiato tristemente di perdere questo suo primato. <\/span><\/p>\n

West of Eden \u00e8 stato inserito come immersione aggiuntiva su molte crociere subacquee in Thailandia<\/a> e in particolare un’immersione molto interessante per le sue correnti \u00e8 conosciuta con il nome di Deep Six. Questo sito si trova sul lato occidentale, ha parecchi enormi rocce di granito quasi quadrate che creano uno scenario molto particolare.<\/p>\n

Questo sito \u00e8 apprezzato dai fotografi perch\u00e9 ci sono molti posti per catturare ottimi scatti. Ci sono un sacco di murene, tartarughe, polipi e di pesci balestra dai quali \u00e8 meglio stare distanti soprattutto quando stanno nidificando.<\/span><\/p>\n

West of Eden Similan – Estratto dal diario delle immersioni di Fabio<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"Moray<\/a>La visibilit\u00e0 oggi era di\u00a0 solo venti metri circa, decisamente peggio rispetto agli altri dui punti di immersione dove siamo stati questa mattina, tuttavia abbiamo trovato altrettanta vita, forse anche di pi\u00f9. Questo d<\/span>ovrebbe essere il periodo di riproduzione dei pesci rossi e, infatti, ogni pochi metri lungo il fondo si trovano i loro piccoli nidi; <\/span>sistemano i loro nidi sparando getti d’acqua dalle loro bocche nelle piccole rocce e coralli sul fondo per aprirsi la strada per l’area che si trova sotto di loro.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Abbiamo nuotato contro la marea dirigendoci verso Deep Six – un altro punto di immersione sensazionale, ma sperimentale. <\/span>Quando abbiamo raggiunto i grandi massi di Deep Six, dove potevamo sentire la corrente che cresceva e diventava sempre pi\u00f9 forte, siamo tornati indietro e con la corrente a favore il nostro ritorno alla barca \u00e8 stato veramente una passeggiata.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Al ritorno, abbiamo incontrato un paio di murene intente in una intensa lotta. Una delle due stava avendo la meglio.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Ho effettivamente perso l’inizio della lotta, quindi non sono sicuro per che cosa stavano “discutendo”, probabilmente per il territorio o per il cibo, forse per una femmina, ma tutte due avevano tagli sulla bocca e su tutto il corpo. Ho saggiamente pensato che fosse meglio farsi da parte, per evitare di essere coinvolto in qualche modo<\/span>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Un’altra grande immersione sono sicuro sar\u00e0 la prossima che faremo a Elephant Head Rock, facciamola!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

West of Eden is a somewhat an emotional dive site because only up to a several years ago it was seldom dived. The reason being, just around the corner is its big sister East of Eden the most wonderful site in the Similan\u2019s.<\/p>

Now East of Eden \u2018was\u2019 the most beautiful dive site in the entire Similan\u2019s, however due to the enormous pounding it received during the Tsunami 2004 and then even more recently the coral bleaching which was only a few years back, and that pretty much ended it off, well for a long time to come, it\u2019s a real sad scuba story.<\/p>

West of Eden essentially backs against an additional great Thailand Liveaboards<\/a> dive site named Deep Six and on West of Eden the currents and the can be really interesting. This site sits on the west side has several enormous virtually square granite rocks which create an exceptional site for foraging about in.<\/p>

This site is also good for photographers as there are many places for catching great shots. There are loads of Moray Eels, Hawksbill Turtle\u2019s, Large Octopus, also there are several Titan Trigger fish, so stay away from them if they are nesting.<\/p>

West of Eden Similan - Dive Butler's Logbook<\/h2>

\"Moray<\/a>The visibility today is only twenty metres not somewhat as good as the other two sites we have done today, yet there is just as much life here, possibly more. It must be red Tooth Trigger Fish breeding period, for every few metres along the bottom they are on their small nests; they arrange their nests by shooting water jets from their mouths into the small rocks and corals on the bottom, which reveal the sandy area beneath.<\/p>

We swam against the tide heading up towards Deep Six \u2013another sensational but testing dive site. When we reached the huge boulders of Deep Six, where we could feel the current gradually growing stronger, we then headed back and with the current making our return to the boat easy.<\/p>

On the way back, there were a couple of Moray Eels having a right old scrap. The fight was between a Yellow Edged and a Giant Moray this was going to be good.<\/p>

I actually missed the start of the fight, so not sure what they were arguing about, possible territory or food or a woman, the Giant Moray had quite large cut on its mouth and the Yellow Edge had a several large slashes along its slender body, I wisely thought it best to give them a wide birth, no point in us getting involved.<\/p>
