Subacqueo e gorgonia a Shark Fin Reef<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Shark Fin Reef\u00a0non \u00e8 solo un nome meraviglioso per un punto di immersione, ma \u00e8 anche un luogo di fantastico ed emozionante e, in genere, la prima meta di una crociera subacquea in Thailandia<\/a>. E’ un bellissimo biglietto da visita per presentare le Isole Similan soprattutto a quei subacquei che non si sono mai immersi in questi luoghi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Questo punto di immersione spunta appenda dalla superficie e questa \u00e8 l’origine del suo nome, quel sottile bordo di granito che emerge lievemente in mezzo all’acqua<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Questa enorme lastra di granito sembra una pinna di squalo da lontano, poi dalla superficie scende e rivela tutta la bellezza di questo punto di immersione.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sotto la superficie, questa sottile striscia di arenaria si sviluppa in una roccia enorme che scende fino a oltre 40 metri di profondit\u00e0.<\/span> Molte imbarcazioni per crociere subacquee usano, come abbiamo gi\u00e0 evideniato, questo sito come prima immersione del loro viaggio, mentre qualcuno lo utilizzano come ultima tappa dei loro safari alle Isole Similan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dopo aver navigato per tutta la notte, siamo stati risvegliati dal dolce suono delle onde dei mari azzurri delle Isole Similan e dal profumo glorioso del primo caff\u00e8 della mattina.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Eravamo tutti molto emozionati e allo stesso tempo pronti per la prima immersione del nostro viaggio. Nei prossimi quattro giorni avremmo avuto la possibilit\u00e0 di immergerci a<\/span> Richelieu Rock, Koh Bon e anche all’incredibile Koh Tachai.<\/span><\/p>\n

La visibilit\u00e0 di Shark Fin Reef oggi era di oltre venti metri, con una leggera corrente (a volte strappava appena tanto per stimolare la tua attenzione) che correva da nord a sud per via della marea. In questo sito c<\/span>i sono due parti da poter visitare: sono entrambe eccezionali; in base a dove trascina la corrente si decide dove tuffarsi<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Isole Similan sono famose per le loro enormi rocce di granito, pi\u00f9 grandi di una grande casa; <\/span>\u00e8 un magnifico ed emozionante punto di immersione e ospita numerose specie di vita marina tra cui: pesci unicorno, pesci pappagallo, ne ho visto una molto grande, parecchi pesci napoleone, pagliaccio, e diversi tipi di pesce balestra.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anche razze, pesci angelo imperatori, pesci farfalla, corridori, sgombri e un sacco di carangidi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mentre ci si avvicinava alla barriera corallina, la corrente ha cominciato a crescere e ci ha spinto lentamente fino a circa 12 metri di profondit\u00e0 in modo da poter visitare anche l’altro lato della roccia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quando c’\u00e8 corrente qui \u00e8 possibile trovare rifugio sull’altro lato della barriera per una breve tregua. Siamo stati molto fortunati perch\u00e9 proprio qui abbiamo concluso la nostra immersione scattando numerosissime fotografie perch\u00e9 ci siamo imbattuti in due meravigliose tartarughe che stavano facendo colazione<\/span>. Durante la nostra sosta di sicurezza siamo stati raggiunti anche da una manta di circa 4 metri. Ci siamo sentiti benedetti e non posso che dire che questa prima immersione \u00e8 stata eccellente<\/span>.

Shark Fin Reef is not only a wonderful title for a Similan Islands dive site; it is also a fantastic and exciting dive site and a dive site that is usually the first on a Thailand liveaboard<\/a> trip. It really does introduce divers to the Similan\u2019s and just what to expect, particularly those that have never dived the Similan\u2019s before \u2013it\u2019s deep its fast and it\u2019s full of fish.<\/p>

This cracking dive site only just breaks the surface; and this is where the spectacular site derives its name from, there is a long thin edge of granite.<\/p>

This huge slab of granite which barely breaks looks like a shark fin from a distance, then from the surface drops down to reveal a jumble of a dive site.<\/p>

Beneath the surface this slim strip of sandstone really explodes into an enormous rock stretching down to forty metres and more. Many Liveaboard dive boats use this site as their first dive of the trip while others use it as their last of their Similan safari.<\/p>

After cruising through the darkness, we awoke to the sounds of the azure Similan Islands<\/a> seas gently lapping against the side of our boat and to the glorious aroma of early morning coffee.<\/p>

Everyone was getting very excited and ready for the first dive of our trip. We shall be diving around these waters for the next four days and sailing as far north as Richelieu Rock, Koh Bon and the amazing Koh Tachai<\/a>.<\/p>

Shark Fin Reef visibility is twenty metres plus today, the current was very slight (sometimes it can be ripping so be aware) and running north to south as the tide slips out. There are two sides to this site both of which are exceptional; depending on the current will dictate the side you dive.<\/p>

The Similan dive site is made up of huge granite rocks which are larger than a very large house; it is a magnificent, energizing and dramatic dive site and is home to many species of singular marine life including: Unicorn fish, one huge Bump-Head Parrot Fish and several Napoleon Wrasse, Picasso and Clown as well as Titan and Red Tooth Triggerfish.<\/p>

Also Kuhl\u2019s Stingray, Emperor Fish, Butterfly fish, Rainbow Runners, Spanish Mackerel, lots of Blue Fin Trevallies and a couple of Giant Trevallies out stalking productively.<\/p>

As we dived further along the reef the current started to pick up, which prompted us to slowly come up to about 12 metres so that we could make it over to the other side of the reef.<\/p>

As when there is a current here you can occasionally find refuge on the opposite of the reef for a respite, this turned out to be a masterstroke of luck, even if I say so myself, and as the we concluded the dive by taking countless photos of a couple of Hawksbill Turtles as they were out for their breakfast. Then on our safety stop and from nowhere she came in like a space ship hovering just above us and long enough for even more photos, a 4 metre Manta Ray, oh how lucky, we all feel blessed, what a excellent first dive.
