Many problems on dive boats can be prevented from happening before they become too much of an issue, recognizing the warning signs is a massive part of being able to assist another diver.
The fun part about this course is not only rising to the challenge but also mastering them. Most divers and instructors find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.
Scuba Gear All the equipment you be supplied by the dive shop and comes as part of the whole Discover Scuba Diving Package. You’ll use all the basic scuba gear including:
- Mask
- Snorkel and Fins
- Buoyancy Compensating Jacket (BCD)
- A Regulator
- Depth and Air Gauges
- Wetsuit
- Weight system
- Pocket mask
You Will Learn How to deal with and learn how to overcome stress, also you will learn self-rescue techniques, first aid diving techniques, emergency management, equipment considerations plus:
- Deal with a tired and panic diver
- Respond from shore or a boat with a conscious/unconscious diver
- Distressed diver underwater
- Missing divers
- Surfacing an unconscious diver
- Removing an unconscious diver from the water
- First aid for pressure related accidents.
You will also have a final scenario which encompasses all the skills that you have learnt throughout this course.
A Medic First Aid certification is a requirement for the completion of this course. If you have done an EFR course within the last 2 years then it is still valid.
If you are not certified then this is a 1 day course, where you will learn basic life support, and how to administrate defibrillation.

The Learning Materials The Rescue Diver Crew Pack includes all the materials you need to be able complete the Padi Rescue Diver course – including a pocket mask.
You will learn how to think and act like a rescue diver and put into practice all that you have learnt with your PADI Instructor. Once you have completed Rescue Diver course, you can review the DVD to refresh your dive safety skills as and when you need.
This great little box of knowledge and techniques will give you much of the expertise required to handle most emergency situations should they arise.
Prerequisites To begin on the PADI Rescue Diver course, you must:
- Be 12 years or older
- Have a PADI Adventure Diver certification (or have a qualifying certification from another organization)
- Be trained and current for first aid and CPR within the previous two years (talk to us if not).
